View Full Version : Possible "Star Wars" trilogy DVD cover art
While I'm still mad the '77, '80, and '83 originals of episodes IV, V, and VI aren't going to be made available (bad decision, George), I like the '97 "Special Editions" enough to buy these.
But I still think Han should shoot first (http://www.originaltrilogy.com/)! ;)

I'm actually looking for the other two original Star Wars episodes on laserdisc. Since they won't be out on DVD. I just only have the original 1977 Star Wars version on LD.

Those look so cool! I can't wait till they come out. They will probably cost a fortune though, but if they have a lot of extra features it will be worth it.

I assumed the cover art would look like the art used for Episode 1 and 2. That way it would be consistant.

You can buy them on ebay:
You should check out the Star Wars Trilogy, The Definitive Collection, Widescreen Collector’s Edition.
It's the originals, no special editions.
My friend has it and never played it, because he doesn't have a LD player. I told him that we can chip in and get one and convert these versions to DVD. That is ultimately what I hope he will do.
Here is a link to a current auction and a picture of the set from a closed one.

Thanks for the link. However, it looks like the owner only ships that box set to the United States. I'll poke around on the Canadian ebay website over the weekend, to see if it's available in Canada as well.
As for laserdisc players, you can find some really good deals on them at a store called Cash Converters. I've seen them priced as low as $100 used (and in excellent condition).
Here is the U.S. Cash Converters (http://domino.cashconverters.com/US_Pccws.nsf/) website.
Here is the Canadian Cash Converters (http://www.cashconverters.ca/) website as well.

Thanks Jenya.
There happens to be one of those stores near my parents house.
I actually have a laser disc player that got damaged when I shipped it home from California- I don't know how much it would cost to get fixed as opposed to getting another one.
Here are a couple links to sellers that will ship to Canada:
(Original trilogy LDs)

OOOOHHHHH!!!! THANKS FOR THE LINKS!!! :bighug:
I'll look into that right after work tonight. The high CDN dollar is a big bonus for me as well!
Thanks again, dlemond  :)
Are those the THX versions from '95? I understand those are the ones to be had.

Yep. They are the THX and the Dolby Digital (Dolby Digital started out on LD's) editions from 1995. The Star Wars version I have is the older CBS/FOX Widescreen Version laserdisc from the late 1980's. :)

Very cool, Jenya. I might scope these out and transfer them to DVD.
