Does anybody else find that they really want to hate this show but can't. I mean, there's a tonne of reasons to hate it- the acting is poor, the writing is sophmoric and the plots derivative and week. But damn if there isn't something about the show that keeps me tuned in.
The funeral episode was the first I saw. When Faith said "I had to likc her finger to get it off," i almost died laughing, it was incredibly funny in such a stupid way.
I've noticed that the episodes have been getting progressively less funny as the season progresses- I hope the writers haven't forgotten their Married With Children tapes at home to copy the lines over.

Well if you look around on this board, you mostly see fans of the show. I have to disagree the show is becoming more funnier with each episode.

I'm not at all sure why you say the acting is poor. Kelly Ripa is very good at dramatic and comedy acting. She does drama more than the other cast members because her character is supposed to be a former soap star. As for Faith Ford, she's a true pro at acting as well. Remember (or learn for the first time) she was on the excellent Murphy Brown series for ten years (and in a strong supporting role on that show). Even the child actors on the show do a fine job.

If the scripts on Hope and Faith seem derivitive to you there is good reason. They are. The model for the relationship between Hope and Faith was built over 50 years ago by Lucille Ball and Vivian Vance on a little show called I Love Lucy. This was the first female "buddy" comedy. They invented the formula where one character gets herself into a mess, concocts a crazy scheme to get out of it and drags her partner into said scheme. This formula has been repeated on other sitcoms over the years such as Laverne and Shirley. Hope and Faith is just the latest sitcom to employ this formula and if the acting or writing seems less than stellar in your opinion it could be that Hope and Faith pale a little in comparison to the classic comedies of the past from whom they take their inspiration. Kelly Ripa and Faith Ford seem to have good chemistry as a comedy team and they never fail to make me laugh. Who know's maybe someday their names may be listed along side those of Lucille Ball, Vivian Vance,Penny Marshall, And Cindy Williams as the inpirations for the next generation of this comedy genre. Or maybe not. But at least they've given us a very precious gift, the gift of laughter. And nobody hates that!!

I love Kelly Ripa, have loved her since her early 90s days on AMC. Her and Faith Ford do have good chemistry. But the scripts need to get better. Also, moving the show to 8pm and moving the motre adult "George Lopez" to 9pm would be alot better for ABC's TGIF.

They do have great and wonderful chemistry and Kelly is very versatile at comedy, drama, & talk shows while Faith is more adapt at comedy!! BTW, Faith isn't a mother in real life but of course, Kelly is!! I read that in Ladies Home Journal

I love this show, and I think the cast does a great job! Plus, it has a lot of humor. I'll have to disagree with you on this one.

It is really crazy and unrealistic but that is what makes it so funny. I would think I would hate this show but I really like it.

It is the sort of show that is surposed to be stupid but funny. If you don't like that then don't watch it. It is brillait in its own way, it not like other boring american comedies like friends which gets sooo annoying after a while, does anyone agree, friends is the same, you know what to axpect but with hope and faith it is different everytime.
